Have you made homemade Apple Cider?
This is the fancy way to make it. In the NY area the Greenburgh Nature Museum offers this during the fall months with a fun presentation.
Tips for making homemade APPLE CIDER.
Use several different types of apples. Some sweet and some tart. This will produce the best flavor. We had over 10 different types of apples.
Pick out the apples you want to grind up
place them in the grinder
and then use all your muscles and grind them up!
It was the BEST Apple JUICE CIDER I have ever had!
Davis' class has been learning about all kinds of different apples.
In this study his teacher as well as local farmers have been teaching the children about Farmers Markets.
There are so many reasons why you should shop your farmers market first.
1.The quality is always better. The produce is always closer and doesn't bruise or age during the shipping process. You will get the produce at its' PEAK flavor.
2. Environmental Reasons
3. To ensure that the local farmers stay in business
4. The produce is organic and fresh!
If you can't find a nature museum with a fancy apple cider grinder use a juicer.
You will definitely need at least 20 apples.
Remember a variety is what makes it taste really good!

This post made me miss having a real fall. Love apple picking and apple cider! And I can't believe Davis is so big! Of course, I am going with Ella's preschool on a nature walk to the beach tomorrow and we are wearing bathing suits. So I guess I can't complain too much. :)
